Trump has canceled a trip across the U.S. delegation to the forum in Davos
It is reported that the trip was cancelled due to the partial US government closure
President Donald trump cancelled his visit of the U.S. delegation to the world economic forum in Davos, Switzerland, which will be held next week. As stated in the statement by the press Secretary of the White house Sarah Sanders, the trip is cancelled due to the partial closure of the US government.
Trump, who participated in last year’s event in Davos, had intended to go back to Switzerland this year, but last week he canceled his trip because of the battle with Democrats in Congress over the issue of funding of the wall on the border with Mexico, which led to a partial government shutdown.
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Secretary of state Mike Pompeo was to lead a delegation to Davos in light of the failure of trip to trump. However, today it became known that trump decided to cancel the trip all the American officials in Switzerland.
“Out of respect to a remarkable 800 000 American workers who do not receive wages, and that his staff could provide him with the necessary assistance, President trump has canceled a trip to the entire delegation at the world economic forum in Davos, Switzerland,” the statement said Sanders.
Mnuchin and Pompeo had planned to speak together at the first meeting of the forum on January 22. It was also assumed that they will jointly host a dinner for foreign Ministers and Finance “the Big twenty”, which should be discussed a number of issues in the spheres of national security and the economy.
Trade Minister Wilbur Ross and U.S. trade representative Robert Lighthizer was also supposed to be part of the delegation
