The trade deficit of the country in 2018 has doubled

Negative foreign trade balance of Ukraine in 2018 amounted to $5.83 billion, which is 2.3 times less than in 2017, reported the State statistics service (SSS) on Thursday. Based on previously published data, in the fourth quarter of last year, the deficit amounted to about $2.38 billion, or 1.7 times more than in the fourth quarter of last year. According to the state statistics service, in 2018 exports of goods and services increased 8.6% to $57,12 billion, whereas import – by 14.3%, to $62,94 billion.

Based on previously published data, in the fourth quarter, export growth amounted to 6.9% – to $of 15.41 billion, while the import growth of 12.5%, to $of 17.79 billion, the state statistics service clarifies that the export to the CIS countries last year increased by a mere 0.3% – to $to 10.71 billion, while imports have jumped by 14.5% to us $13,88 billion, including in the fourth quarter was recorded a decline in exports by 1.2 per cent to $2.77 billion while imports increase by 3.7% to 43,84 billion.

The balance of payments in 2018 reduced surplus of $2.9 billion

At the same time, in trade with the EU exports grew faster than imports, respectively of 14.3% (up to $of 23.03 billion) and 12.7% (up to $26,29 billion), including in the fourth quarter, respectively, 11% (up to $6,31 billion) and 9.5% (to the $7.25 billion). In foreign trade goods, according to the state statistics service, the deficit last year grew by ha and 54.5% to $9.8 billion, whereas external trade in services surplus has only increased by 15.5% to us $6.05 billion

As reported, the deficit of foreign trade balance of Ukraine in 2017 amounted to $2.63 billion, while in 2016, the foreign trade balance was reduced with a surplus of $0.54 billion
