The us state Department approved the sale of the Georgia anti-tank missiles, and Javelin command launchers for $ 75 million. The U.S. authorities note that this transaction will be a “contribution to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by strengthening the security of Georgia”.

Us Department of state gave approval for the supply of Georgian anti-tank Javelin missiles and command launch units for $ 75 million. Earlier the proposal was made by the Ministry of defence of the country at the request of the Georgian side.

“The state Department has approved the possible sale of Georgia’s Javelin missiles and command launch units, the estimated cost of 75 million dollars”, – stated in the message of Agency cooperation in the security sphere, a part of the U.S. Department of defense.

Earlier in Tbilisi is interested in the possibility of buying a 410 and 72 ATGM Javelin team settings.

Now the deal must be approved in the U.S. Congress. In the case of a positive decision of us lawmakers, States will ensure the maintenance of the complexes, their transportation and other services.

As stated in the message delivery Georgia such weapons “will not disturb the basic military balance in the region”, but will increase the capacity of the country in the field of defense.

“This proposed sale will enhance the foreign policy and national security of the United States by strengthening the security of Georgia”, — reports the Agency.
