Serbian national team won the permit in final tournament of the 2018 world Cup.

Group D

The 2018 world Cup will be the second after South African, which will be attended by independent national team of Serbia. In Brazil-2014 the Serbs were not included, and in Germany 2006 and France 98 team played the now defunct countries – Serbia and Montenegro (until 2003 – the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia). The rest of the twentieth century, to be precise, 60 years – between 1930 and 1990 is the time of Yugoslavia.

In the history of Yugoslav football team stands out. They claimed two fourth places at the world Championships – the first draw in 1930 ended in a crushing defeat in the semi-final against future champion of Uruguay (1:6).

In Chile-1962 in the finals, they were not allowed Czechoslovakia (1:3), and in the match for third place was stronger the hosts of the tournament (1:0). It should be added two of the Yugoslav “silver” at the European Championships: 1960, the finals against the national team of the USSR (1:2) with a goal of Victor Monday in extra time, and 1968 – a defeat against Italy (0:2) in the final, which had to be replayed because the first game ended in a draw 1:1, and the penalty had not yet been broken (the Italians reached the final of the absolutely barbaric – after 0:0 in the semi-final against USSR was tossed a coin and luck was on their side).

After the collapse of Yugoslavia Serbia and Montenegro are unable to Shine as brightly as, say, another Yugoslav successor – Croatia. In 1998, Serbs managed to leave the group, but in the 1/8 final they were stopped by the Netherlands (1:2), in 2006 they suffered three defeats in the group with a total score of 2-10, and in 2010-m has managed to win the future owners of “bronze” – Germans, but losing to Ghana and Australia. Next summer in Russia, the Serbs will be another opportunity to remind the world about the glorious traditions of the past.

On the way to the final tournament of the 2018 world Cup, the Serbs went to one of the most tightly knit groups, fighting which went on until the last round. Twice Serbia were rescued in matches against Wales, reducing them to two points (both times – 1:1), has won strong-willed victory in Georgia (3:1), for the first time in its history lost to Austria (2:3). Perhaps the deciding factor was an incredible match in Dublin, when at the beginning of the second half, the Serbs came forward, and 20 minutes before the end of the game were in the minority. Ireland pressed hard, but the defence, led by the defender of “Zenit” Branislav Ivanovic kept minimal victory and had not left a leading position in the sextet.

To thank for the success the Serbs first and foremost, head coach – Slavoljub Muslin. In the spring of 2016, he took the Serbian national team, becoming the seventh coach in 6 years – the Serbian team was talking like a flag in the wind from one unsuccessful qualifying round for another (3rd place in group b qualifying for Euro 2012 and the 2014 world Cup, 4th at Euro 2016), and mentors has varied with enviable frequency.

The muslin was replaced Radovan Curcic, because of the conflict which hardly has not gone from the team one of the characters in the current selection Dusan Tadic (4 goals, 7 assists). With the advent of the Muslin was quiet all the quarrels, although at first the new coach went through tough players in General, without mentioning specific names: “we should Not blame all the ills of my predecessors, the responsibility for failure must take and the players. Should I try to get them to act on the field with full dedication and passion for which they are capable”.

And they really began to move, at first reluctantly, but then more smoothly and loudly. Dedication and passion is also not long in coming. Tadic an hour played in Wales with a broken nose, from which, after hitting Taylor’s, emerged the sea. I. spent from start to finish all 10 matches in the group, as close to the record of Dejan Stankovic from 1998 to 2013, he was capped 103 match; the defender of “Zenit” now 98. Finally, 23-year-old Alexander Mitrovic, the one Serb and young, the best scorer of Serbia in qualifiers (6 goals), who does not abound in “Newcastle”, which often spends time in the suspension, on the bench, but is transformed, coming to the team. “It’s all about trust, which he gets here, said the Muslin. – Obviously, Mitrovic is more comfortable in the national team”.
