The issue of lifting the Russian flag put the representative of the state Department to a standstill

The U.S. state Department was unable to explain why Russian flags were torn from the buildings of the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco and sales offices in Washington. The official representative of Department Heather Nauert admitted that he has no information.

“I don’t know,” said Nauert after persistent requests to explain why it was necessary to remove the state symbols. She said only that Washington believes these actions are “completely legal.”

State Department spokesman also said that the flags were “respectfully lowered and neatly stacked” for storage and subsequent transfer to the Russian side. In her opinion, other States, unlike the United States, “long ago would spit on someone else’s flag.”

11 October, Russian flags were removed from the buildings of the Russian Consulate in San Francisco and sales offices in Washington. In Moscow have declared the inadmissibility of such actions, as the Consulate General, despite the closure, is still the property of Russia.

The official representative of the foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that the Russian side regards the removal of the flags as desecration of the national symbol, and has already said the United States strong protest.
