Today, February 8, marks the Day of Russian science. In honor of this holiday, the MC has prepared a list of some of the discoveries and developments presented by experts from our country for the last time. Of course, in Russia regularly conducts research and list them all is impossible, but to highlight the most important of them are difficult, but the following scientific works were among those that attracted the most widespread attention.

Biology and medicine
Recently it was reported the team from the Moscow physical-technical Institute, approached the creation of “exact copies” of the human heart suitable for transplantation or use as a “collection of parts”. To do this, scientists have figured out how to interact with polymer scaffolds with cell cultures of the Central organ of the circulation. The research focused primarily two key types of cardiac muscle cells – fibroblasts, representing the basis of connective tissue, and cardiomyocytes that make up muscle fibers. As it turned out, to external stimuli, these cells react differently .
Other scientists have recently found that electrical conductivity and dielectric permittivity of proteins is subject to almost the same principles as in the case with glass and other amorphous materials.
Quite regularly make discoveries of Russian paleontologists working in Siberia. In the beginning of this year a group of scientists from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tomsk have studied a new kind of dinosaur. An ancient reptile, the remains of which were at the disposal of specialists, called “cyberotica” because it was discovered in Siberia and refers to titanosauriform. He had great size and was a herbivore like most of the truly large animals.
In November a group of other scientists representing a number of Russian higher educational institutions, as well as Paleontological Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, discovered on the territory of Kemerovo region fossilized dinosaur egg.
In December last year, Russian scientists from the Higher school of Economics in collaboration with Spanish colleagues from the University of Valladolid has trained artificial neural network to predict corruption in a particular region. Artificial intelligence takes into account such factors that may affect corruption in the region, as the change in real estate tax, economic growth, increased housing prices, and the time spent in power the same party.
In early November, Russian scientists theorized that some species of bacteria and archaea, discovered in Arctic rocks, could over millions of years to survive in Martian conditions, despite the low temperatures and high radiation. This can be interpreted as evidence that the Red planet could be inhabited.
And not so long ago on the surface of the International space station was discovered the bacteria that came to her without the aid of any vehicles however, experts note that they were born still on Earth and did not come from outer space.
By the way, Russian scientists will take part in the search for the hypothetical “extraterrestrial civilizations” — the corresponding task included to the Program of fundamental space research in 2018. We are talking about the star Tabby, also known as KIC 8462852, unusual flickering which one (albeit not main) that can be attributed to the activities of aliens.
Let the scientific work, one way or another concerning extraterrestrial life, traditionally, attracted the attention of Russian scientists, of course, do not work only in this direction. For example, recently an international group of researchers, which included experts from the Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov, received the first direct evidence that white dwarf shrinks in the early stages of its evolution.
A group of researchers from Moscow state linguistic University, in cooperation with foreign colleagues came to the conclusion that the gestures of the man talking in Russian have features uncharacteristic gestures of speakers of other European languages. The most fundamental difference, according to scientists, is that Russian-speaking people use almost the same gesture, regardless of the form of spoken verb.
Alexander Polyansky of the Moscow physical-technical Institute in Dolgoprudny and styling Jiang from the Israeli Technion Institute in December presented the proof of the theorem formulated by the founder of combinatorial geometry lászló tóth Fees in 1973. It is a “theorem about the coverage of stripes”. It States that the sphere can be covered in a certain way symmetrically positioned her arched strips, whose total width does not exceed the length of the largest circumference of the equator of the sphere.
Recently it was reported that during construction works taking place on the streets of Moscow Ostozhenka experts found the button the time of Paul I with the symbols of the order of Malta and many other interesting artifacts. Button, however, is a most valuable discovery, since in Maltese uniforms in Russia, carried only from 1799 to 1803.
January 28 (February 8, new style), 1724 in Russia was the decree of the governing Senate established St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, “heir” which is the Russian Academy of Sciences today. June 7, 1999, in the year of the 175th anniversary of Russian Academy of Sciences, Boris Yeltsin, at that time held the post of President of Russia, issued a decree establishing the day of Russian science, which since then is celebrated on February 8. In the USSR science Day was celebrated on the third Sunday of April.
It can be noted that the Day of Russian science is almost a “same age” world science day for peace and development established by UNESCO and is celebrated on November 10, almost all over the planet. It was approved in 1999, at Budapest the world science conference under the auspices of the United Nations. Officially proclaimed the holiday was in 2001, mark started in 2002.
