The Central Bank said on Russian banks affected by the attacks WannaCry

The Central Bank has documented several cases of a successful attack of the virus-ransomware WannaCry in the credit and financial organization of Russia. Fortunately, the banks promptly removed all unwanted effects.

“Following the distribution of malicious software WannaCry recorded isolated facts compromising the resources of credit institutions”, — stated in the message on the website of the Central Bank.

The regulator noted that the consequences of the attack was eliminated by the financial institutions promptly. Thus details or names of the banks in the release is not given.

The report also says that now the greatest threat to financial institutions represent attempts of intruders to obtain access in their local area network. As a rule, the cyber fraudsters infect computers through emails with attached malicious file, which by fraud has been encouraged to open the account.

The Central Bank also informed that starting to publish on its website reports identified the hacker attacks on Russian banks and to issue their recommendations for their reflection.

Large-scale cyber attack that affected more than 200 thousand users and organizations in more than 150 countries, began in may 12. Hackers have infected computers with virus-extortionist WannaCry which required the user to “buy” bitcoins for unlock with the operating system. It is assumed that the creators of this Trojan are taken as a basis for a modified malicious program of the national security Agency USA Eternal Blue.
