The Prime Minister said that Belarus is working to diversify oil supplies.

Belarus is interested in a long term contract for the supply of Azerbaijani oil. The head of the Belarusian government Sergei Rumas said at the meeting with the President of the state oil company of Azerbaijan “Socar” Rovnag Abdullayev.

“This oil we are going to process to the Mozyr refinery using the Odessa — Brody pipeline — Mozyr. I believe that this cooperation will be interesting and the company “Socar”, — BelTA of a word Rumasa.

The Belarusian head of government reminded that our country bought from “Socar” oil in 2011 and 2016. But the Azerbaijani side is buying Belarusian oil products.

Rumas said that Belarus was currently working to diversify oil supplies. Previously, our country bought oil from Russia. “But in terms of continuing the tax maneuver until 2024 oil for Belarus will be the market. Of course, without alternative supplies of oil it’s impossible to talk about energy security of Belarus”, — he explained. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that Socar is a reliable partner in this field.

However, our country is not planning to completely give up Russian oil supplies — only “to diversify them to a certain level”.

March 5-6 “Socar” will send the first tanker with oil for Belarus. The volume of deliveries will make about 85 thousand tons. 20 March is also scheduled to ship the second tanker of the same size — about 85 thousand tons.
