A murder suspect who was wanted, ambushed police Department Charlotte-Mecklenburg late on Thursday, hitting a police officer in the leg, then killed by return fire.

“He lured us into an ambush”, – told reporters the chief of police Kerr Putney (Putney Kerr).

Court records show that the suspect, 23-year-old Jonathan Bennett (Jonathan Bennett), had to appear before the court on February 7 in connection with violations of probation in 2017.

Shortly before 11 p.m. police officers were waiting in the Parking lot when Bennett got into his white car, said Putney. While a group of six to eight employees were expecting the suspect, Bennett suddenly opened fire, media reported.
Police said one of the policemen, whose identity is not disclosed, was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. The wound is not dangerous to life. We only know that the employee is a woman.

The police opened return fire and critically wounded Bennett. He was taken to Carolina medical center where he was pronounced dead, said Putney.
