In 2010, the US administration on control of food and drug administration issued a warning about fake the cure. In the warning, FDA notes that “the product instructs consumers to mix the 28% solution of sodium chlorite with acid such as citrus juice. This mixture produces chlorine dioxide, a potent bleach used for textile processing and industrial water treatment. High oral doses of this bleach, recommended parents can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and symptoms of severe dehydration”.
