In the overall standings, Thomas maintained the lead.
The first group stage of the 2017 Tour de France ended in a mass sprint finish. The fastest driver on the second day of the tour de France was the German Marcel Kittel QuickStep Floor.
In the second stage the riders passed through the plain 203,5 km from Dusseldorf to Liege. Traditionally for the group of the race almost immediately formed the leading group which was in the break almost the entire race and only 2 km to go it “ate” the main group.
Another point worth mentioning is the shift in the leading group of the peloton 30 kilometres to the finish, which turned out to be Chris froome (Sky) and Romain bardet (AG2R), but both managed to quickly get the group.
