Ukraine news:Another ominous trend is that today, every fifth Ukrainian ready to accept a risky offer of employment.
The mission of the International organization for migration (IOM) in Ukraine since the beginning of this year has assisted 639 Ukrainians suffered from human trafficking (more than 90% – from labour exploitation).
“From January to June, IOM assisted a total of 639 persons, victims of trafficking, which is 30% more than the same period in 2016. More than 90% of victims of labour exploitation, more than 80% of victims in the territory of neighbouring States, mainly the Russian Federation and Poland”, – stated in the press release of the IOM mission in Ukraine released Friday, the eve of the world day against trafficking in persons (30 July ).
The head of the IOM mission in Ukraine Manfred Prophase says: “Another alarming trend is that today, every fifth Ukrainian ready to accept a risky offer of employment that could result in his exploitation”.
IOM launched an updated website, a National toll-free hotline for counter-trafficking and for counselling of migrants – www.527.org.ua. Information on the site warns about the threats of trafficking and helps to learn more about safe migration.
