Exports from Germany to 2018 has set a new record

The most important importers of EU countries.

German exports last year reached new record levels, despite international trade conflicts. In 2018, German companies exported goods, nearly 1,318 trillion euros – three percent more than the year before. Imports for the same period increased by 5.6% to 1,090 trillion euros, reported by the Federal statistical office on Friday, 8 February, writes dw.com.

As a result, both for exports and imports exceeded the record high recorded in 2017. Then Germany exported goods 1,279 trillion euros, and imported 1,031 trillion euros. Data for 2018 means that the trade surplus, for which Germany is so widely criticized in the world has decreased over the year from 247,9 to 227,8 billion euros.

The most important importers are Germany, the EU

Most of the goods – in the amount of 778,7 billion Euro (+ 3,8%) – Germany exported to other EU countries. The import of products Made in Germany to EU countries rose last year by 6.3% to 623 billion euros.

The strongest reduction in exports in annual terms was recorded in December 2018. Then Germany sold abroad goods on 96.1 billion euros – 4.5% less than in December 2017. At the same time, the volume of imports in annual terms in December, little changed, remained at level of 82.1 billion euros.
