EU calls for release of captured Ukrainian sailors

In the European Union continue to expect from the Russian Federation the immediate release of captured Ukrainian sailors near the Kerch Strait in November 2018.

In Strasbourg a meeting of the head of the EU delegation to the Council of Europe Meglena Kuneva with the relatives of captured Ukrainian sailors. At the meeting concern was expressed regarding the deteriorating situation with the state of health of the Ukrainian seamen, is spoken in the message of the EU delegation to the Council of Europe in the microblog Twitter.

“The EU expects Russia to immediately release the captured sailors and to ensure that injured seamen adequate medical care”, – stated in the message.

The EU noted that for support of human rights.

On the morning of 25 November 2018 Russia blocked the passage to the Kerch Strait tug “Yana Kapu” and boats “Berdyansk” and “Nikopol”, which carried out a planned transition from Odessa to Mariupol. When you exit the Kerch Strait, the Russian ships opened fire on the Ukrainian ships, which were returning to Odessa, and have not received information about the possibility of crossing the Strait.
