Died academician Yuri Ryzhov

Academician Yury Ryzhkov died on 87 year of life, reported the Moscow Helsinki group, the winner of which was the scientist.

“July 29 was not an academic, scientist, political and public figure, laureate of the Moscow Helsinki group Yuri Alekseevich Ryzhov. The Moscow Helsinki Group expresses sincere condolences to the family of Yuri and mourns with them,” – stated in the message group.

Yuri A. Ryzhov was born on 28 Oct 1930. In 1989-1991 – Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, member of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. From 1992 to 1999 – Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in France, member of the Presidential Council. Since 1981, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 1987 – academician, honorary member of the International engineering Academy, doctor of technical Sciences .

Awarded the medal “Defender of free Russia” (1997), award-winning Russian and foreign academies and scientific societies, was awarded the Diploma of the Federation of peace and consent for active participation in strengthening of peace, harmony, cooperation and understanding. In 2002 he was elected a member of the Council of International Pugwash movement. He was was an active member of the Congress of Russian intelligentsia and the “Round table of December 12”. In 2016, the prize awarded to MHG for the historical contribution to the protection of human rights and the human rights movement.
