Denationalization of “PrivatBank”: Poroshenko appealed to the leadership of the PGO and SBU

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko asked the leadership of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and security Service of Ukraine to study the possibility of criminal prosecution of judges of District administrative court of Kiev recognized illegal nationalization of PrivatBank.

“We appeal to the security Service of Ukraine, to you, Yuri V. (Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko – Ed.) after completing all the necessary legal procedures, the possibility of a criminal case for unjust decision, which was made by the judges who rendered these positions, without interfering in the analysis of a decision on the merits”, – said Poroshenko at the NSDC meeting on Thursday evening in Kiev.

As reported, the government of Ukraine on the proposal of the Bank and former shareholders of PrivatBank, the largest of which at that time was Igor Kolomoisky and Gennady Bogolyubov, 18 Dec 2016 decided on the nationalization of the largest in the Ukrainian market of financial institutions.

District administrative court of Kyiv on 18 April 2019 at the suit of I. Kolomoysky declared the nationalization of the Bank illegal. The national Bank and the Finance Ministry has said it will appeal after the official publication of the court’s decision and confident in their rightness.

According to the NBU, as of 1 January 2019 PrivatBank’s total assets have occupied 1-e a place (525,248 billion UAH) among 77 operating in the country banks.
