As the French master has conquered the world of luxury bottles for perfumes: enchanting photos

René Lalique is the genius of the jewellery world, who overcame the way from the caustic ridicule known at the time masters to the phenomenal popularity and recognition of his jewelry works of art. And then they all dropped out and became a glassblower.

In the second half of the nineteenth century Lalique was very popular jeweler, and in parallel with the manufacture of jewelry he became interested in the properties of glass and started with material from different experiments. But for a long time it was just a hobby.

The real work started when the jeweler in 1905 he met the perfumer Francois Coty. The latter did not like the glass bottle, which sold its perfume. Therefore, invited Lalique to make the sketches with the signature flavor of the three F. But the idea of the artist was to implement plant “baccarat”. Now the results are not like Lalique, and in 1910 he bought the whole plant for the production of glass for their needs.

Working with glass is so like the artist that he began taking orders from other perfume houses – Worth, d’orsay, Roger & Gallet, and was also released accessories for the dressing table, tableware, interior items.

So, until 1912 Lalique immersed in the “glass case” and completely abandoned the manufacture of jewelry. Later he built a factory and patented 16 types of glass production. By the way, the technology of the patina is still a secret.

Under the leadership of appeared amazing Lalique perfume bottles, glass powder boxes, cups, vases, lamps, symbols for hoods of cars, in particular for Hispano Suiza, Isotta Fraschini, Bugatti, Bentley, interior designs and even fountains. In 1936, Lalique glass fountain was installed on the Champs Elysees in Paris. But in 1956 dismantled, because the service was too expensive.
