Air pollution in big cities, completely destroys all the benefits of Hiking through the streets. A new study found that instead of healing people get damage.

According to a new study conducted by researchers from Duke University and Imperial College London, air pollution is most dangerous for people over 60 years of age, which is especially important for Hiking.

Short-term effects of exhaust gases in built-up areas, such as Broadway in new York or Michigan Avenue in Chicago, can completely “kill” the positive effects, which gives a two-hour walk for the heart and lungs of elderly people.

“Combined with data from other recent studies, our results emphasize that the level of air pollution on our busy streets is becoming unbearable,” says Cheung Fan (Fan Chung), the author of the study.
The results were published in the medical journal the Lancet.
