4 out of 10 adults in US are obese

The number of Americans with excess weight continues to grow. New data Centers for control and prevention of diseases show that 4 out of 10 adults in the United States and 1 of 5 children are obese.

Indicators of obesity in Americans has reached a new level, say doctors. The level of obesity in adults has steadily increased from 30.5% in 1999-2000 to 39.8% in 2015-2016 for the most recent period for which data were obtained. Obesity in children increased by about 34% over the same period – from 13.9% in 1999-2000 to 18% in 2015-2016.

New figures show an even more serious picture of the national problem of increasing weight of Americans in one generation. Also saved picture of racial and ethnic disparities when it comes to weight. Obesity rates among African Americans and Hispanics is higher than whites.
